About Me
I graduated from Brown University with a degree in Biology in 1979.
I subsequently attended Harvard Medical School, where I received my MD degree in 1983.
After a residency in Internal Medicine at the George Washington University Hospital, I completed a fellowship in Endocrinology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1988. During my fellowship I participated in clinical and bench research in diabetes and calcium disorders.
I then completed a one-year diabetes fellowship at the Joslin Diabetes Center in Boston.
After the completion of my fellowships, I became a staff physician at the Joslin Diabetes Center.
I was subsequently named an Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
In 1989, I was selected to become the Medical Director of the Framingham Joslin Diabetes Clinic.
In 1991, I left the Joslin Diabetes Center to join a private clinical endocrinology practice in Rockville, Maryland.
In addition to a busy general endocrinology practice, with a special emphasis on diabetes, I've been actively involved as a principal or sub-investigator in more than 150 diabetes related clinical trials since 2000.
Our research center's focus has been rapid and long acting insulin analogues, as well as new oral and injectable glucose lowering therapies.
We're also participated in several long-term clinical trials which studied the heart benefits of different diabetes medications.
I've served as the Endocrinology Section Chief and Medical Liaison for Diabetes Education at Suburban Hospital, Johns Hopkins Medicine. I also served as the Medical Director of the Johns Hopkins Diabetes Course at Suburban Hospital.
I began two community based diabetes and endocrinology clinics for underserved patients in Montgomery County.
I continue to see people with diabetes, as well as other endocrinologic problems, at the Kaseman Clinic in Rockville (http://www.cmrocks.org/kaseman).
I'm a fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP).
I'm also a member of the American Diabetes Association and the Endocrine Society.
I'm a past President of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (2017-2019).
I'm an Emiritus member of the Board of Directors of the Mid-Atlantic Society of Endocrinologists (MACE)
I'm a former chair of the Community Outreach Committee of the Montgomery County Medical Society, and have served on the Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Medical Society and the Advisory Board of Montgomery Cares.
I'm currently the Medical and Research Director of Endocrine and Metabolic Consultants
